Vehicles
Starting around the time of the Great War, the mechanization of the Army took hold and motorized vehicles began to take over from the horse and wagon. During the Great War use was made of Lorries and motorcycles but the nature of trench warfare limited their usefulness on the front line. During the inter-war period, the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals began adopting and experimenting with vehicles usually based on civilian models available on the open market. During the Second World War, an entire industry was generated to fabricate the large numbers of Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) vehicles used by Canada and it's Allies. Since then, vehicles have continued to evolve with successive generations fulfilling largely the same roles as in the beginning.
This page captures vehicles in use by the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and related entities and there is no attempt to capture other vehicles in use within the Canadian military by non-Signallers.
There are many vehicles missing from the growing list. If you have information on them or any period photos, please consider contributing what you know!
