2 Combat Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron was authorized effective 1 December 1972 and organized by amalgamating 2 Combat Group Headquarters and 2 Signal Squadron.[1][2]
Effective 1 December 1978 when 2 Combat Group was renamed the Special Service Force, the Squadron was redesignated Special Service Force Headquarters and Signal Squadron.[3]
