Princess Royal Visit to Kingston 1962

In June 1962 HRH Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood visited Kingston for the second time, visiting the Royal Canadian School of Signals on 19 and 20 June 1962. On the 19th she participated in turning the first sod in a ground-breaking ceremony for the Corps War Memorial, and to unveil the portrait of LGen S.F. Clark in the Officers’ Mess. On the 20th, after a civic ceremony in Kingston, Princess Mary took the salute from over 700 all ranks commanded by Col G.E. Streb on the Parade Square. Following the parade, she was welcomed to the Sergeants’ Mess by the RSM, WO1 J. Addy, for a tea and reception.
