The
Telephone D Type Training Pattern is a Second World War era portable telephone designed for training purposes. It was meant to train soldiers on the D-type telephones, notably the
Telephone Set D Mark V which was widely used during the war.
Little is known about these units. Photos of two examples are shown, serial number 12 and 640, both made by Northern Electric in 1940. It is not known how many units were made or over what period so if other examples are known, please let us know!
