Currie letter about Forde 1919

Extract of a letter dated May 31st 1919, to Major-General C.S. Mewburn, Minister of Militia and Defence, Ottawa, Canada from General Sir Arthur Currie Commanding the Canadian Corps in the field: -

"On the Maurentania, sailing today for Canada, goes Colonel Forde, who has for the past couple of years been head of the Signal Services in the Canadian Corps. I think you know Forde, as he comes from Dundas Ontario, and in the old days when you were a Brigade Major he was taking an interest in Signalling work. He came to France in charge of one of our Companies, and in November 1915 became Chief Signal Officer of the First Canadian Division, from which position he was promoted to Chief Signal Officer of the Canadian Corps more that two year ago. I have always had the very highest regard for Forde and his work. He was never satisfied to stand still, always wanted to improve the service in some respects. I believe that our Signal Organization led the British Organization in many regards and as was in the case of so many of our other services, they were coming at the end of the war to our way of thinking. I cannot speak too highly of Colonel Forde, and I confidently recommend him to you as one worthy to put in charge of the Signal Services in Canada."
