Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment

Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment was authorized via a name change from 79 Communication Regiment 31 May 2000.[1] On 1 June 2000, all 1st Canadian Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment personnel were posted to the newly formed regiment. 79 Communication Regiment personnel, with their specialty in satellite communications, formed the new 3 Squadron, while most 1 CDHSR personnel, with their background in tactical radio, remained in 1 Squadron, a name held over from the old unit.
On 31 December 2017, 1 Line Squadron of the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment was transferred to 77 Line Regiment. It maintains a small subunit of line technicians within 3 Squadron, C Troop.
