More than just a well written biography of one of Canada's aviation pioneering giants, Ronald Keith's chronicle of the legendary Grant McConachie paints a wide canvas of what life was like in western Canada, and especially the Western Arctic, during the era of the NWT&Y Radio System. The planes that McConachie flew, the airlines that employed him and his contemporaries, the exploration and mining compaines that employed them, and the communities that they services were the very reason for the System's existance.
This is a great yarn, and all the more interesting to old Sigs Hands because of the fact that Calder, Alberta, the HQ of the System, was also where Grant McConachie grew up and from which he launched his exploits into that amazing world of the bush pilot.
