1 Signal Squadron was authorized effective 1 May 1958 and located at Currie Barracks Calgary Alberta.[1]. The unit was initially formed at Camp Borden and was to move to Currie Barracks Calgary by 1 September 1958.[2]
In August 1961, 1 Airborne Signal Troop was disbanded and the role of providing parachutists was transferred to 1 Signal Squadron.
Effective 1 December 1972 1 Signal Squadron was amalgamated with 1 Combat Group Headquarters to form 1 Combat Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron.[3][4]
